I have an Icon Alliance...it's a motorcycle helmet, but I like having a closed face helmet. Eventually, I'll need to upgrade to a racing approved helmet.

I have a pyrotect full face. No complaints so far - it fits well, has adjustable ventilation holes and a large eye port, but it is a little heavy. I think it's a good HPDE type helmet but would upgrade if I was doing serious racing.
I kinda steered away from a full face with the whole air bag thing. If your bag goes while racing it will hit your helmet and the helmet could break your jaw. Plus i got a really good deal on mine

full face sure as heck looks cooler, but i find that i can see and hear better when i run with an open face...
i can deal with the vision issue, as most of the time that i'm wearing the helmet i don't need to have great peripheral, but i just can't stand having everything muted so much, like i'm in my own little cave...

I was sold on the fact that is has the chin guard that protects that area of your face from smacking something in a crash. But in retrospect, an open face may have been a better choice considering the potential issues with closed face helmets and airbags. The upside is that if I drive an airbagless car I'm set, and I can covert it to a fully closed helmet with an add-on sunscreen.
The G-Force GF750 open face can be had for ~$110 if you look around on line. That's a hell of a deal.

I have a full face helmet ... at my first DE I had a rock (or something) come in the window and hit my face near my left eye (I had the face shield / screen thingy up). Anyway, I'll be sticking with a full face helmet and wearing the shield down from now on.

This is what i am thinking about buying. hmmm the only place i looked so far has them for $200
I have a Bell Sport something (probably a Sport2). This is a full face helmet, and it will expire in 2010. At that time, I'll go with a lighter full face helmet.

I think the jury is still out on that one. I've heard of several people having no issues but the scca did put out a memo about it. In the 4th gen you recline more and I sit very far back already (6'3) so I don't know if I'd hit with extreme force. Plus I'd still rather have a broken jaw than no jaw left at all. In a serious crash I'd definitely want the integrity of the FF but it may not be worthwhile in a low speed crash. Plus, can't you just pull an airbag fuse on track day if you're worried about it?

It originated at the FIA, where a paper mentioned that in case of airbag deployment it was possible that jaw injuries "could not be ruled out" when a full face helmet was used (Hubert Gramling, FIA Institute, FT3/AF, 18.5.1999). 5 years late the SCCA issued an advisory memo on the subject in 2004: [url]http://www.mohud-scca.org/Info/download/PB%2005-01%20Airbag%20Advisory.pdf/url]
It was then passed around the internet, much terror, and speculation inflated it to full on red herring status. Nothing ever came of it.
I switched recently from a Bell Mag 4 Open face to a Pyrotect full face SA2005. I was at an event on crumbly/gravel covered surface and actually got a pebble in the cheek from my own tires.
Days later EDIT: This helmet, in black, w/ orange face shield

That's about what I paid for mine (the Hybrid). The eye opening is quote large. I wear glasses and don't have any problems wearing them with the helmet. The shell is quite big. There is a lot of padding in that helmet. I'm 5'-9", I have a L helmet and it just skims the headliner in my 5th gen.

Recently switched from a Bell Hybrid much like Paul's to a Simpson Voyager Closed Face. I still need to get an iridium lens. Need a Full-Face with the convertible.
I have to buy a new helmet before my next event. I haven't decided. Thinking of an Impact Charger or Bell Vortex, GTX, or M3. I like the Vortex the best, but damn it's expensive!!!
