I had another fun weekend racing with the NASA Texas in the Honda Challenge series at Texas World Speedway. There were only a few other Hondas but I had a ton of good competition from cars in other classes. Some of the interesting cars in my run group were a Z06 Corvette, a 911, a Grand Am Audi S4, several American Iron Mustangs, and the Camero-Mustang Challenge cars. In Honda Challenge we had me in my H2 Prelude, Tom in his H3 Civic SI, Joe L. in a H1 CRX, Joe S. in a H4 Integra, and Jeff in a H4 CRX.
I placed between 5th and 7th overall in all the races and always 1st of all the Hondas. I was able to put down my fastest race lap ever at TWS of a 1.58.773, which is the new Honda Challenge lap record. Unfortunately this was the last NASA TX event of the year however there are plans of at least 6 events next year. I am hoping for 10 Hondas at the first race next year and 15 by the end of next season. I will be working on the www.texashc.com website over the off season and we have a Texas Honda Challenge Yahoo email group for any of you that are interested in racing in the series.
I have all 4 races from this weekend on DVD as well as all the races from the previous two events. I will have 3 DVD’s, each one with a full weekend worth of racing on them for sale at www.marcuccimotorsports.com later this week. Each DVD will be $10 + $3.95 for shipping or all 3 DVD’s for $20 + $3.95 for shipping.
It was definetely alot of fun last weekend at TWS. I got to meet David and pick his brain a little, I'm looking forward to The Drivers Edge event there the 9-10th for some more learning. We got 3 40 min runs each day in the DE group, and I was able to run 95% of that solo, so I got alot of practice in, although I need my Corbeaus in ASAP and I need to look into a harness as well if this is something I am gonna continue doing, the stock seats and seatbelt just dont cut it, my legs still have bruises on them from holding myself in place. Below are a couple pics, the rest can be seen at: http://increasedvelocity.com/members...rp/TWS%209-24/
Some of them are blurry, and they are pretty much all DR's car, since I cant take pics of myself while driving
Just to give you an idea how fast DR's time was, I was in the top 5 speed wise in my group all weekend, and Paul stopwatched me at 2:18, so he's 20 sec a lap faster Needless to say, his skills vastly outweigh mine, but I'm not too displeased for my first real DE, and I should learn more next month
My car in the garage fresh with my painters tape number
The rest are DR in action:
Heres a couple of an S4 that hit the tire wall and rolled itself:

yeah, it's a thought, but i'm not sure how many H2 cars are running on the west coast. also, replacing an h22 will cost 4x the amount it woudl to replace a d16.
Congrats on the great results David!! Any chance you will be running in the Honda Challenge Nationals @ Mid-Ohio next year? I'd like to see what the 5th gen has for the east and west coast H1 cars.
And I'm definitly interested in a DVD when you have them ready.

It is a long tow up to Mid-Ohio just for a demolition derby We play nice down here in Texas and if there is any contact you go on at least one race probation.
The DVD's are ready and you can go to www.marcuccimotorsports.com to order. I will post more in depth descriptions of each DVD here in a little bit.

You should also talk to David about who does all the work on his car so yours can be as fast as his. I hear his tuner is pretty good.

This is a gross understatement. Not that your skills are bad but David is fast. Scary fast. The car is absolutely blazing and his skills are even moreso. If you want to be fast, follow him to events and have him instruct.

I agree on both counts, I didnt mean to understate Davids driving ability in the least, because it is more than impressive. Just talking to him about his speed and line compared to mine made me realize just how fast he was. Todd, I may have to make a drive up to Dallas once I get all the parts on the car, cause I defenitely need some of your mojo for tuning. I am participating in the Drivers Edge event next weekend that David is instructing at so I should get some of that much needed advice.
