Moving from Honda Challenge H2 to H1..... More inside

Guys, I'm making a BIG leap here.. I am going to jump classes, from H2 with ITRs, to H1 with the "hybrids".. A lot more is allowed with the motor, there is no miniumum weight for H series cars, and just is more competitive...

My mininmum wieght before was 2725lbs (ITR weight is 2575lbs), after the race, with driver... I had 100+ lbs of lead in the car to make that weight, now, I don't have too, also I can do these items, that I couldn't do in H2
Motor:
Cams
Cam Gears
Valves
Valve springs
Retainers
P&P the head
ITR TB
Euro Accord R IM
Intake through the headlight
Type-S pistons
Hybrid Honda Tranny (accord 1st 2nd gears)
Hondata

Chassis:
CF hood
CF Trunk
Lexan rear and side windows
Remove entire heating, AC system
Lightweight battery, in any location (HUGE)

Do you think this will drop my lap times 2seconds to win every race in H1, I do!... But man, its going to cost a lot of money, what do you guys think..??

Shoot... just dropping 100+ lbs of lead should do it.

And I just want to tell you, I think it's really cool that you race and win in your prelude. I hope you don't ever give up on it, cause anyone can build a hybrid hatch and win, but if you do it in the prelude, then you're really the man. It's why I'm working so hard with my 3g in STS. I know I can be the driver to do it, I just can't give up.

[Oracle]Well I think you already know the answer to that question.[/Oracle]

You already know how much it costs to run in H1. Its alot more than H2. If you think you can afford to do it and you wont miss the resources that cash would have otherwise been allocated to, then have fun and good luck.

Otherwise, stay in H2 and keep kicking butt.

Go for it Corey. Show 'em what's what! BTW, to save some money, buy a S2K TB vs a ITR TB. Same peice, much lower price secondhand. If all you need to be the class leader is 2 second better lap times, I think all that stuff should get you a lot more than 2 seconds!
And to second lightlude, the fact that you're winning in a Prelude is really cool.

For the ITR vs S2k TB differences, the only difference is that the ITR has the Evap valve built into it. But I doubt that you have to worry about emissions so the S2k will be the way to go.

When do you plan to make the jump? MAYBE you can push either Golden Eagle, JG, or Skunk2 to streamline their intake manifold and possibly get a sponsorship since you've already been doing so well. As the Euro-R is nice, but still takes quite a bit of work to get on.

Any idea what the hybrids weigh around?

In any case, good luck with it! And fix that brake problem if you haven't already!

You are doing great in H2 already. So why switch to a class that costs more money and where the competitiveness of your car is an unknown? Stay in H2 where you have a good chance of winning and therefore getting sponsorship money.

sponsorship money is a good point, but corey was only slightly off the pace of the H1 guys, and given all of the things he could do to his car, could probably compete in H1 and even win.

looking at that list of mods we're talking about way less weight/better distribution, way more HP, though i'm sure it'll take getting used to. i think he'll be fine in H1, and i'm thinking have an easier time getting $$$ if he does compete and wins.

I say stay in H1. I don't know that all those mods are gonna gain you a full 2 seconds. One second yes, but 2 seconds... I don't know. Plus, I know that your times are not that far off from the H1 times, but I don't think anyone has really fully exploited the H1 rules. Once someone does with a kickass hybrid, that 's gonna be a lot of money down the drain. Plus, you gotta figure on getting replacements for the aftermarket parts if they happen to break/wear really fast. The downtime may be considerably longer. I say stick it in H2 and keep kicking ITR ass.

I'm pretty sure that PilotSH meant to say, "Stay in H2."

I kind of agree with him. Is your car build to the limits of H2? What is allowed in H1 ---> I see NSX's, S2k's, and hybrids... is everything NA, or is FI allowed?

You are talking about spending a lot more money, and you are trying to overcome the weight difference of the Civic Hybrid -or- you are trying to overcome a RWD/lighter S2000 with similar mods? I know that you times now might be enough, but you have to think about where the class is going, not where it is now.

I don't think the s2ks or NSXes in h1 (if there are any) get much in the way of mods cause they have the advantage of RWD. No FI at all.
