Here is the ad I found it from:
Executive summary:
Red '91 CRX in CSP trim for sale. It's a fun and reliable car with nearly all new components. $3500 without the super wiggy Advance Design double adjustable aluminum threaded body racing shocks, $4250 with them. Comes with two sets of wheels (15x6.5's & 13x9's).
Details:
Engine/drivetrain - Motor and tranny are from a '90 si, 121K mi, always used synthetic oil, doesn't burn or leak a drop. Engine is very strong (well, for a Honda), according to the datalogger it's putting just a little over 100 HP to the wheels. New stainless steel 1-pc 4-2-1 header, 2.25" Mugen cat-back exhaust, aluminum cold air intake with cone mesh filter. Ignition, fuel system, and ECU are completely stock (there may more horsepower potential in the ECU just from tuning with TurboEdit). Quaife limited slip differential (paid $1100 for it!) installed at about 90K mi and all new transmission bearings were put in at the same time. New axles/CV joints went in with the engine swap last year. Engine mounts were firmed up with Energy Suspension urethane inserts. New ES bushings in the shift linkage and the shifter was modified for a shorter throw.
Suspension - Ground Control Advance Design double adjustable shocks are on the car now. They have one partial season on them since new. I will let these go with the car for and additional $750. Otherwise, I have a set of double adjustable Bilstiens modified by ShockTek or a set of Tokico Illumina's that I can put on it. Spring rates are 450 front and 550 rear. The rear swaybar is a Suspension Techniques 3-position adjustable. All suspension bushings have been replaced with new Energy Suspension urethane lubed with marine grease to prevent it from getting washed out. Front ball joints and wheel bearings are new, rear hubs and wheel bearings are new.
Brakes - Front rotors are new, front pads are new Axxis Metal Masters, rears are new stock Honda's. The front calipers and knuckles and the rear disk brakes and trailing arm assembly are from the '90 Si. Brake lines are new stainless steel braided from Goodridge. The master cylinder is a new rebuilt from Autozone, but it is from a '92 Civic EX so it has a larger piston for better pedal feel.
Wheels/Tires - The car will come with a set of 15x6.5 aluminum 5-spoke street wheels with Pirelli P700's on them that have lots of tread left. Also included are a set of 13x9" Keizer 3-pc aluminum modular racing wheels. The Keizers will have some used-up tires on them (either Hoosiers or Kumho's) but you'll want fresh tires for next year anyway.
Chassis - '91 Honda CRX Dx, extremely clean, no rust anywhere. The bumpers and rear hatch from an '89 HF (much lighter). Interior is in great condition from my '90 Si, both seats are like new - no rips and the foam is good even on the side bolsters. New red paint and bodywork last year. All jambs and seams are painted red - it's hard to tell the car started out as black. There are some minor flaws in the bodywork and paint - it was my first time ever doing b&p on a car but hey, it's a race car not a show car. Looks great from 15 feet. New windshield, dark tinted side and rear glass. To reduce weight I removed the radio and speakers and added the original "radio delete option" parts to make it legal. Similarly, I removed the right hand mirror and installed the appropriate trim parts in it's place. Battery is a Hawker Odyssey relocated to behind the passenger seat. The stock seat belts have been removed and replaced with 4-pt racing harnesses. The drivers side is a Sabelt camlock style. The shoulder belts go over a fabricated stainless steel harness bar that has an integral camera mount. The harness bar is a telescoping tube design to be SP legal.
The CRX weighs 1950 lbs as it is. It could get down to around 1900 with a lighter exhaust system and lighter seats. It is fast and capable of getting into the trophies at Nationals with a better driver. The only reason I'm selling it is to begin another project car. Hopefully this next one won't take as long to complete.
I've got a huge investment in time and cash in this car. I've been running it in CSP since I bought it in '96 and spent most of four years doing the chassis swap. It is well sorted out and very reliable. I think it would be a great car for someone starting out or ready to move on from stock class. I've taken more than one FTD with it and several FFTD's and I'm not that good of a driver.
Asking price is $3500 or $4250 with the A/D shocks. I can deliver it to anywhere in the Midwest Division, beyond that we'll need to share gas money. Car is street legal, titled and insured.
