Cornerweighting....

How much of a difference can you feel due to cornerweighting?

Also, it is a good idea to cornerweight the Prelude without camber kits? Am I not going to get different camber settings on each side of the car due to different ride heights?

Also, what are you guys paying to have this done?

Thanks.

corner

I had mine done, and my weights were as follows
FR925
FL925
LR552
RR501

Total weight- 2901

Mine is a 5th gen. I noticed the car felt more stable and balanced. I definatly noticed a difference. My suspention is ground controls, tokico adj., front and rear strut, and sus. techniques sway bars. I had an alignment done as well. My total cost was 130.00.

My car felt more stable as well after it was cornerweighted. I dont have the results in front of me but it was very nice. I also had an alignment done and I think mine came out to a similart price of around $130.

How exactly does one corner weight their car? Say you do and get the different weights on the different corners, how do you adjust the coilovers then to ensure an even balance for the car?

Info on CornerWeighting

You adjust the height of the springs to affect the weight on each corner. By lowering/raising the height it adds/removes weight from one corner and sends it to the opposite side of the car.

Cool link!

So steps should be

1. Go in, get car weighted.
2. Adjust height of coilovers.
3. Get car weighted again.

Is that it or do you just keep repeating until u get the correct numbers? Ie, how do you know that my raising the rear left corner by 0.25 of an inch, that it'll add/remove X weight to that corner?

Thanks.

I would guess that most Preludes’ cross weights are within 2% without corner weighing. I doubt most of us can feel the difference in a 1-2% weight change from corner to corner. Depending on the track you may or may not improve your time buy getting a perfect 50/50 cross weight. Go ahead and corner weigh you car but don’t get freaked out if you can’t get it perfect. Alignment settings are much crucial to fast times.

Good deal. Autoscope (the only people I will let touch my car besides Marcucci ) charge $80 for alignments and $200 for cornerweighing.

King Motorsports just charges a flatrate of $50/hr to due corner weighing. They estimate about 3-4 hours. So around $200 is about the same...

I have heard a lot of good things about King's work, the problem is that their schedule revolves around their race schedule ---> and their RSX was in an accident at Sebring so I think their time is going toward that... they told me a month before they coudl get me in for balancing... The season starts in two weeks, so that doesn't work...
