So I was at the track this past weekend and on my 3rd session, I was starting to push pretty hard and I noticed my temp was up to 3/4 on the gauge (oppose to the normal less than 1/2). I immediately backed down and the temps started to go back down. Daily steet driving is fine and I tested my coolant and it was fine. I'm thinking it's either the thermostat since the next day, I tried running with my OEM rad cap (I was using a Spoon one when it was starting to overheat) and the temps started to climb a bit (it was a much cooler opposed to the previous day). So are those Mugen thermostats + fan switch worth the money or should I just get a stock one and save a boat load of money?
Stock thermostat. I run a stock t-stat, Fluidyne rad, no fans, with water and Red Line WW. Temp stays rock solid at 180-ish. Oil temp is something else all together...

I would 1st try a full coolent flush/cleaning and replace the T-stat. with a new OEM replacement. I have zero problems with my water temps getting too high, however my oil temps do get up to 160f !. I have stock radiator, and T-stat and they work good so far.
I would certainly hope your oil temps get above 160F!! Oil temp should be at least 180F to 200F. I ran mine as high as 260F at NPM, but I didn't have an oil cooler installed.

How's your car??I saw you at summit point last sunday.
someone tried to out brake me going into turn 1, he locked up his brakes and could not hold the inside lane (after seeing the video of the car behind us I saw that he didn't even try to turn in), and right when I turned in I got hit in the right rear. The hit spun me out, and while spinning the same car hit me again in the right front. I need a new bumper cover, and some body work to the right rear to fix the dent.

Lucky the car behind you have everything on tape.Is he paying for it??The rear panel dent is really big!!
no, he pays for his car and I pay for mine, that's the way road racing is. Does not matter whos fault it was. He got yelled at up in the timing and scoring booth after the race, and if he hits anyone else this year he might have to sit out for a while or go back to race school, but that's about it.
Still having issues. I've replaced the thermostat and thanks to a blown rad hose, I've replaced about a gallon of coolant. I've tested the coolant it should still be good. Seems like it's really an issue when the weather is hot (80F +).
Any other ideas/suggestions? Oil cooler? Better rad?
stock radiator? if so, do you see any visible corrosion/crud inside of the tank? Try pressure testing the radiator. hell, might be a trashed temp sensor and/or f'ed up heater core.
I have a Fluidyne radiator, low temp thermostat and fan switch, and my temps on this past race weekend with NASA at Pocono were close to 275 during the enduro. I hit in the 260's during the sprints. I never had guages until now so I never knew how hot things were when I pushed. Low temp stuff doesn't matter in these scenerios. I have a remote oil cooler to install and will have that and an accusump installed later in the season. Tires and brakes are more important as I keep going through them.
