I can tell you strait up that a SS can be COMPETATIVE with the supposedly better and faster manual transmissions... When I say competitive, what I mean is just as fast if not faster. I have tracked my SS about 4 no... 5 times and have surprised a lot of people with the speed car. The SS gives you good enough control over the transmission at high revs to match if not beat most Manuals. There are some people on this board and others that will attest to this.

The fact is, my car is slow as piss coming off the line, but clearly that is of little concern on track (it will be in auto x however, you might loose a second or two) but this is not really of importance on track... Keeping the car in the 5000 rpm+ range helps blur the line between the trannys....

Medium to long story short, Go out, have a good time and show some people that having a SS does not mean you are not fast.

And IDK if I buy that using the SS aggressively will bring the ultimate end to it. I know people that rarely even use the thing, but have gone through multiple transmissions and others (like myself) that beat the living crap out of it and have no problems... Knock on wood... Keeping up with maintenance should be part of ANY car going on track...

i autox regularly with my automatic 3g... in most cases, you're only going to use second gear anyways, so once you get going, it doesn't particularly matter what transmission you have, as was stated above...

i consistantly keep up with or beat other preludes, even with the large power deficit between me and a 5g...
