205/50/16 vs 225/45/16

Hey guys

Im planning to take the prelude for the first time to the track down in Oz. Just had a quick tyre question. What tyres do you guys run on stock sh rims? is the original spec the best? I was planning on getting some lighter 16" rims and have heard people run 225/45/16 tyres which sounds super wide but does this come at a sacrifice of something else?

Wider is always better. You will feel the difference in the contact patch you have during turns and acceleration.

225/45/16 will fit on stock wheels too.

the only sacrifice is that you can get as low. but the extra traction from the contact patch MORE than makes up for it.

i would go with a 215/45-16 Flaken RT-615 or a 225/45-16 Hankook Ventus RS-2. The falken is probably better but the hankook is cheaper.

Two tyres that we dont get here. hehe..

I was going to use Yohohama Advan AD07.

Its just either 225/45 or 205/50 and now you have added another combo 215/45

i only said 215/45 because the falken isn't made in 225/45. I would stick with the 225/45.
