1/4 mile paved oval/4th gen prelude.

I'm racing at Agassiz speedway BC with my Buddy in #55. Billy is 1st overall this year and one race to go. If he pulls it off he'll be champ for the second year in a row. I'm sitting in 10th spot of 36 cars trying not to look jealous.

Billy at Penticton speedway

Heres a wee viddy I made of Billy winning one from a restart at the end of an A Main at Agassiz.
You'll notice we don't go in for big stupid looking trophies, and there's no second or third. You win or you don't, son. No participation ribbons I'm afraid...Besides, it's really about the seat time, ask any wheelman. (Having said that however, winning occasionally is nice too.)

Cheers

Many thanks Kooler, Championship day is tomorrow. I'll post the outcome on Sunday. You got it right about it being an addiction. Going to the grid I get smooth Endorphine rushes in my brain and crazy shivers. It's a sweet feeling During the race you're using it up and don't feel anything but flow and focus. We have a lot of contact in Hornet class and our cars are a little on the rough side. We try to keep 55 nice though, I'm body man and she's the flagship and kind of my baby even though Bill's the pilot. My ride is mad max matte and road warrior battle damaged. I like it that way, it's grrr. Basically, I'm a pit crew guy who jumped at the chance when we built a new 55 car a couple of years ago. I have the old ride now and am still learning alot after 3 seasons. I started with a 91 civic si until she got rolled and wrecked last year when an integra went out of control and took me to the wall so it's my first season in a lude.

Me getting a dislocated shoulder, racers hint: make sure your seat fits you snug.

Heres the vid of the civic in better days where I actually beat an 88 lude and a Nissan NX. The lude had a cockpit cam.
.

I have to say that one of the best parts of all this is having a fan. Sarah Forrest age 10. Confirmed die hard race fan.

Thanks

I'm Honoured. I'll do what I can about a top 5 finish, I have friends coming to cheer me on too so now the pressures on! I do better with pressure. It's coming up in a few hours so I'm polishing my visor for the tenth time waiting to go. Keyed up is the phrase I think.

Championship Results Agassiz speedway BC: Oct 2/ 2010

I am extremely gratified to report that Team mate #55 Billy Bell won both the A-main championship race last night and clinched the season title in overall points which means we keep the trophy for another year. UH-RAH. Excuse me...I came in 2 seconds behind him in third spot and finished 5th in the A-heat which bumped me up in overall points to place 9th in the season out of 36 cars.
Agassiz Speedway 2.0
that's right, you'll notice number two was a young lady called Kimberlee. She's actually an experienced midget sprint driver so I don't feel so bad. At all. Really. Another lap I would have had her, dammit I ran out of track. The real drama was a massive battle with Mike Webb in #18. I was in 10th overall and him 10 points behind me in 11th place. To get a top ten season finish he knew it wasn't enough to beat me, he had to take me out of the race and did his level best to pit-manoeuver me. It was like taking lefts and rights but I don't spin easy these days. I have learned much about being sideways. The rule is, in a front wheel drive, countersteer just right and floor it,or keep the pedal down if you're already floored. she snaps out. (driver skills notwithstanding)The reason I have the E 4ws disabled is I need to do this manually. Mike made me angry, and focus, flow and rage brought out my A game. Controlled fury, that's the ticket. Trying to chop down on me and push me into the dirt on a corner, he succeeds in putting two of my wheels in but he bounces off my fender and disappears into the gloom. HA! Ya mess with the 'lude.... Anyway two laps later theres a red caution and it's him, pasted to the wall and being towed off. Too bad he took #77 with him, he's a devil on the track too but a good guy. Still, righteous, the racing Gods favour me this time.
Some of the damage sustained last night.

#18 got the worst of it.

I was bitten by bumper biting beasties

I had taken to ramming the opposition

That @#**!! Mike Webb. (off the track we're all still buddies, on the track, it's understood)

That was absolutely the best time I've had yet racing, the main was brutal, everybody got some and more than a few veterans didn't make it. In the words of XXX, "I LIVE FOR THIS S**T!" What to do all winter? Fixing my poor battered prelude would be a good start... These two 4th gen ludes have done really well for us. It would be so nice to have a clean upholstered one for the street. I'd look after it, honest.
