of course the people in the infomercial are going to say they swtiched

I've seen turtlewax ice in use and it works as advertised... I wouldn't use the spray for claying as it doesn't get as wet..

I hear durability sucks with the Ice wax, and the Platinum line is the way to go if you want to use Turtle Wax products.

If you want durability:

1. Use a sealant/synthetic wax
2. Put on your fav. Carnauba ; Meguiars, Zymol, Pinnacle

This way even if you don't wax every 90 days the sealant will stay on to give some shine and protecting power for months.

Saw this in Pep Boys a couple of weeks ago and considered picking it up. Haven't heard much about it.

I have used it and it is not all that it is cracked up too be. I have a black prelude and it leaves streak marks that look horriable. It also doesnt work in the sun or on a hot car like the advertisement says.

I have a bottle of Turtlewax "Ice."

It was recommended to me by a detailer friend of mine. He said it dried clear, (which it did), which was what attracted me to it in the first place. Black car + stone chips + white chalky dried wax. It looked horrible. Of course the chips are like pinpricks so you could hardly see them before.. but after it looked like white overspray.

As advertised, it dried clear which was great because I could apply it in a hurry and not have to worry about the base side skirts having white scuff marks on them from wayward swirls of the applicator. Also I didn't have to go around the car with a toothpick to dig out the dried wax from all the nooks and crannies.

The problems I had with it were as follows:

1) It attracted bees. Picture this: A stunningly polished black 5th gen on a sunny summer morning. Inviting, no? Picture is swarming with bees. Bees everywhere! Crawling in the mirrors, the grille, and chillin' all over the roof. I had to hose my car off every morning to get the bastards off of it.. which did wonders for it's nice polished appearance. It got to the point where I couldn't stop with the windows down, otherwise i'd have them flying in at me.

I eventually stripped it all off (the wax that is), and reapplied Mother's. No more bees.

2) The pinprick stone chips I mentioned before have become the bane of my existence. I bought the Turtlewax Ice to get rid of the chalky white dried wax left over in the stone chips. It did just that. However, it created another problem. Because it has an oily feel to it, it took a long time to dry even on a flat surface. When it collected in a stone chip it would never dry. Buffing off the hood for example, would produce a nice shine...with streaks emanating from these tiny pools in the surface of the paint. Rub and rub and rub would only produce more, because if it's oily texture.

It now sits on a shelf at the back of my garage. I chose to skip the waxing of the car this summer after someone stole my can of Meguires wax and swirl remover, (thank you whoever you are), rather than resort to using the TurtleWax.

Ease of use +
Clear drying +
Wildlife pheromone -
Ability to highlight blemishes and and anger me -

Old thread I know but the Turtle Wax ICE is not the best. I do not like it at all and I have worked with MANY waxes out there doing high end hot rods and such. Best out there IMO are Meguiers cleaner wax or such, Mothers carnuaba wax is great and supposedly has the highest amount of carnuaba in it compaired to other waxes. There is also a wax called Formula 113 Cleaner Wax. It will go on clear and will not mark the moldings if it gets on it or leave buildup in the cracks or gaps. They make a second step (optional but I prefer it) called Formula 113 Bead X. Spray it on, wipe it down and go throw water on the car. Not a drop of water will stay sitting on the thing, and it leaves a layer OVER the wax for when you wash the car or in the rain, it wont wear at the wax so quickly. Works great.
Best thing is to do your buffing, then swirl mark remover/polish and then wax and seal.
