First, why don't you list what you bought?

Second, read these articles. It'll help you with the basics:

http://www.bettercarcare.com/articles.php?articleId=47
http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums...1430487&page=1
http://www.properautocare.com/usporcabpol.html

Third, just a couple of tips, or rather mistakes that I've made in the past.
Always mask off the moldings and trim that you don't want to get any product on. Taking your time to mask off the trimming with blue painters tape properly will save you a lot of headache in the future.

Let the product do the work for you and not the machine. Don't apply a lot of pressure trying to cut the surface, bur rather let the product work in its abrasives on its own.

If you feel that you're going too slow, then remember that the more polishing you do the faster you'll get. Take all the time you need because it's always better to do it right the first time.
I'll add more as I think of more as well. You've made a wonderful purchase and the PC is a very versatile machine. The more you practice using it, the tougher the surfaces you'll be able to perfect

Sounds like you're off to a good start. I would stack up on some cutting pads for your arsenal because the products you listed don't do any heavy polishing, especially when coupled with a polishing pad. Or you could buy a more abrasive polish. If it were me, I'd do both

Trust me...it is a VERY important and necessary part for the PC. Without it, you won't be able to attach any pads.

You would use a light cutting pad for polishing. I've never tried the edge pads, so I wouldn't know just how much cutting power it has but I wouldn't think it's anything extreme. You should keep something more abrasive like the heavy cut and/or medium cut pads. PM Dwayne for more information. I hear they're using new foam technology that doesn't absorb any product so you end up using less. Hopefully they resolved the velcro issues.

A general rule of thumb would be to use the least abrasive combination first on the surface of your car. That means use the lightest polishing pad with the least abrasive product and start with that. If it isn't leveling the surface, then you're going to either use a coarser pad and/or a more abrasive product. Try starting with a blue pad with a paint cleaner, and then a blue pad with the No.9. If the No.9 doesn't really get rid of the swirls, then use a coarser pad. Try different combinations and see which ones work and which ones don't .

Do you use a terry cloth towel to remove the wax or do you use the PC to remove the wax? (ex: using Meguiar's Ultimate Bonnet)

I prefer to use neither of those, but a quality MF towel. It's a lot faster to buff off the wax rather than using a bonnet, and even a 100% cotton terry towel can marr the surface of the paint. A quality MF will(should) not as long as it's clean.
