Stains

bird crap stains

I left my car outside for one day, took a nap, 4 hours later, got up, went outside, there were two small piles of bird crap on my hood. Not a big deal, I can wipe it off and go on with life.. Wrong.

I wipe it off, and there is this yellowish stain on my paint, like it is 'one' with the paint. Any ideas on getting this off? It was only there for 4 hours (in the sun)

oooh no man... ive discussed this very deeply when someone else faced similar problems. i really think u should just search for it caus it was a pretty good in depth discussion.

that bird crap insident happened to me too. it only happens to lighter color cars usually. if its what i think it is, then its perminant . if its minor then that yellow stain will eventually fad off due to heat. really depends what kind of sh!t seriously and i can seriously tell u the differnce if i saw bird poop in person . all i can say is whenever u see bird poop, wipe it off asap. especially on parts that get alot of heat like the hood.

u know what? i think that thread about all the poop stuff has been lost along with that last crash thing we had here.

anyways, ill try to get to the point. that stain is most likely caused by the heat and the chemicals in the poop. in some ways, u "cooked" the chemicals into ur paint, past the clearcoat to the point that it has perminantly damaged the color and not the outer protection layers.

when i say permanant i really mean it too. no off the shelf product can take it out. pros might only reduce its appearance but it will still be there for sure.

the severity of the stain really depends on the poop and how long its been sitting on ur car and if the body was hot or not. for poop, its basically the thicker and solid colored it is, the more damaging it will be. the lighter, more watery poops will do less damage. if u wipe it off really quick it wont do anything obviously. but if its been sitting there for some time it will affect the paint. the longer u let it sit the deeper it will sink into ur paint. 1 hour under the sun with bird poop on ur hood after a decent drive (so ur hood is hot too) will be enough to permanantly damage the paint. the hood is the EASIEST part of the body to have poop stains hands down.

another big part of this stian stuff is how good of a paint u actually have. nice cars like lexuss and benzs can withstand bird poop stains super well to a point where its practically gauranteed it wont stain the paint even if u never wash ur car. obviously hondas paints and clearcoats suck ass so yea... and since ur ZX is old and not exactly considered a luxury car then i would assume its paint protection isnt that great either.

ive got a ugly stain from when i first got the lude and knew noting about car care. i leftbird poop on the edge of my hood for about a week thinking "oh ill just wash it off in the weekend" boy did i learn my lesson. thats why i always keep a small terry towel and MEguiars quick detailer in the trunk. whenever i see poop i will wipe it off asap with it. i also always check the hood after i park outdoors before i drive.

ok i think thats enogh explanation. i have lots of hw to finish...

It was me that was in the same situation few months ago. Here is the thread:
Help - How to Remove Bird Sh*t Stain?!

The bird sh*t stain left a orangish stain on my white hood. But after a while i went to look for it. And guess what? It was gone! Think it somehow faded away and i couldn't find it anymore. Possibly cuz of the Sun's UV rays?

So hopefully the same thing will happen to you Malken. But after that incident, whenever i see bird sh*t, i wash that ish off ASAP.
