this seems to be a common problem among all types of hondas specifically those in red. ive hear 4th gens 5th gens here who have the same problem. Seems to happen only on plastic trims too (side mirros, spoiler, etc.)

Point is, paint fades, but why does red show more paint fade than other colors im not sure. Paint fading is caused by daily sun exposure and industrial fallouts in the air. Climate and temperature probably plays a role too.

How to fix it? From previous desicussions i dont think there is a real way of fixing it. you might want to do a search to make sure too

a friend of mine has a red 4th gen with this problem. i have seen it on many occasions with red cars with plastic mirrors. i used the meguiars 3-step process on it and it made an improvement. it was worth the time and made the fading less noticable, but i think that a re-paint is the only way to really remedy this unfortunatly

:/ kinda stinks that it only happends mostly to red cars

actually, what I heard was waxing and polishing those mirror plastic pieces is the culprit because the protective coating the factory put on them ..was extremely light. I didnt believe it.. but I did some searches on google and came across some guy with a integra ( I know, not our car... but anyway...and a 4th gen lude..) he took pics before and after.. and sure enough.. his were fading too.. he was so pissed 'cause he took someones advice to wax the **** out of them to make em really shine. did for like 3 months then started to color fade fast.

A friend of mine with a 95 del slow had that problem like crazy on his mirrors. I clay barred, 3M SMR'd, 3M Imperial Hand Glazed, and Meguiars waxed. Not completely revived, but it looks 10x better. This is probably a reasonable temporary solution.
