Need help removing tar? off exhaust & more..

I recently purchased an exhaust, I was a little dissapointed in the discoloration of the exhaust and the melted bumper on the top part of the tip of the exhaust but got a deal i could not resist. Anyway, the exhaust is normally silver but looks a almost copper/gold color. Also, I want to remove what it looks like melted bumper. How could I go about removing all this safely without hurting the exhaust or changing the appearance negatively? Thanks guys

try "goof off" or or "rubbing alcohol" those usually gets road tar off, and you can get those at your local Fred Meyers. You can also use metal rubbing compound by mothers to shine your exhaust, it does wonders for stainless steel exhaust systems, headers, etc.

good luck.

if there is enough thickness, you can sand and wet sand down the exhaust and then use metal polish...worked wonders on my polished lip when my gf curb checked my rims....
