Nasty white spotches in the paint.

Hello,
I have a 93 BB2 which is Black. In the last year, I've noticed 3 yucky white/grey splotches in the paint. 1 on the trunk, and 2 on the sunroof. They're about 6 inches across. I don't have any pictures yet, because I'm at work, but the paint has turned white and it feels like the clearcoat is gone from that area as well. I haven't changed my washing/waxing products recently (all meguiars stuff, crystal car wash and their polish/wax set) or anything, and if that was the problem I'd think that would have been all over the car then. Someone said maybe that it was just fading or humidity getting under the paint and messing it up. Does anyone have any suggestions, or do I need to post pictures?

if its still stock paint, well that paint is 12 almost 13 years old... which is quite a good life out of an original paint job. sounds like the clear is failing, of course you dont have a pic so thats my best guess

Yeah you're right. That's what I was guessing, too. Hm, s2000 looks more and more tempting vs a high mileage, bad paint having Prelude.

PS: This forum ****ing sucks for views.

just get it painted =) itll be like a brand new car. or at least it will look like it anyway... a jdm h22 will fix your high mileage prob as well.

im also looking at s2000's itll be another year or so before im serious about buying one tho

On the S2K boards, seems that is the natural progression for Prelude owners. I seriously love my Prelude and would love to keep it as a daily driver, I'm driving it like an old guy until I get the S2K. Once I have that, maybe I'll swap the engine. I don't want to get rid of the Prelude, but my friend paid 6000$ for a paint job, and it was just black! But I think that also included his kit getting installed. Anyway, thanks for your input.

if you were considering a used s2k, I would just stick with the Prelude until you can afford a new one. More people than one might think don't actually break their S2k's in properly (or at all). A result of that is oil consumption down the road.
