Nail Polish Remover (Acetone) for Hazed Headlights

Has anyone heard of or tried using acetone to help remove the "yellowing" of headlights? Read some stuff on another Honda forum but am skeptical and don't want to worsen the situation.

I think acetone would decompose the film that protects the headlights. It might be worth a shot to try on a small obscure part?

I think it's hard to find the exact same film - therefore most people from what I know re-polish their headlights often.

Just buff otu your headlights like you usually would with a buffer to your paint. Mine always come out crystal clear.
