man its rusting thats just cancer for paint just like it is to a boat. since u plan on a new job anyways, i dont see the point in waxing it anymore. but to keep things better, if u ever wash that rusted area, make sure u dry it completely. better if asap too

If you are going to repaint it, you should sand down the rust spots and prime it very well to keep the rust from spreading. Make sure you sand all of the rust away from the metal.

As far as waxing, I don't see any point in it either. Just get rid of the rust spots.

Hmm

I'd offer you the body panels from my '88 for free, but they are all rusted through and through. The front hood is rusted shut so I can't even pop the hood, and the battery is dead so I can't jump start the car to drive it anywhere. I tried removing the front bumper to see if I could get at the front hood latch but the bolts that hold the bumper to the car are, surprise, rusted.

I tried some of those oxidizing/rust-eating agents, etc., nothing helped. The car's been sitting dead for almost a month.

Anyway sorry, we were talking about 3rd gen preludes, your car and rust?

And just try and do your best to sand down the rusted spots and try and keep it from getting any worse until you get the new paint job, otherwise it would be a waste of time.
