Mud Guards rubbing Paint Off?

I have mud guards on my Prelude, I have heard they can rub into and wear the paint off where they make contact. On ebay I found this durable clear paint protective film that you can place under the guard. Just remove the guard and precut and install the pieces. Just an idea in case you might want to do the same. On ebay type in "Venture Guard" I purchased a 12" X 24" piece for about $20.00, easy to install. I plan to do just the front of my hood also to prevent road nicks.

Yeah, they do wear into the paint. I have an outline at each corner where I removed them. Good thing though it's not worn down to bare metal. After a while I got used to it.
