Hello everyone, I am planning quite a big project for this summer. Before I start wanted to check if someone on here has already done it. Btw, the project is replacement of the quarter panels and the sun roof. I want to try and avoid any mistakes.
Any and all tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated =)
Here is a thread that someone on Honda-Tech started, but never posted how it turned out. So you guy know what I am trying to do.
Above are some images of the current situation. First I must appologize for all the dust on the car, it has spent the winter in the garage. The rust is actually worse in person. When I bought this car there were literrary holes through both lips on the quarter panels. I had a "friend" fix it before I moved to orland for 2 years. Well it took less than 18 mounths for the rust to appear again, thanks to the job well done. Before I start doing this I'll have to do a timing belt and water pump on my DD, 97 RL. Until then I wan't to gather as much info as possible on how to complete this project successfully and enjoy the car the Honda will never make again for years to come.
I need some welding tips, since the new panels will need to be welded on. Please feel free to comment or advise throughout this long project.
Good Luck to all you luders that are working on keeping your cars running and in good shape!
That's going to be a lot of work to fix. The wheel arches rust from the inside out, so if there is that much rust visible on the outside, the inside is going to look way worse. Good luck.
Yeah, I am expecting it to be at least twice as bad on the inside That's why I am going to try to replace the entire panels. Just like the honda-tech member had approached the problem. (Link at 1st post)
