Get the #1 Paint cleaner, #2 polish, and some Gold Class wax and apply them in that order, or clay bar before the polish if you think you need it

This is what your car will look like afterwards...except it'll be red :P

So you didn't use the Professional(Tan bottle)... I was planning on use that but I am not sure??? I was reading Meguiar's page and they say for the Fine Cut-cleaner you have to use a buffer?? But I have talked to guys and they say that they applyed it by hand...

Are you talking about the #7 polish in the tan bottle? I have a bottle of that but never opened it since I liked the #2 so much. If you're talking about the wax though, I just used the Gold Class because I heard good things about it and it smells really good

dont use the fine cut cleaner. if you want to stick to meguiars products, get add the swirl mark remover 2.0 to your arsenal. i highly recommend you clay bar before anything too if this is your first attempt to really detail your paint.

OK. I was at Pepboys today and they sell this 3 step process, #1 Cleaner, #2 Polish and #3 Wax.. Should I buy this but subsutute the the # 3 with the Gold Wax???? Or should I go an autoparts store and just get the #2 and the #26 in the Pro Tan Bottles??? but on the website they say that if you use the # 2 (Which is the Fine Cut Cleaner) That I have to use a High speed buffer?? I don't want to use this because I have never used a buffer before and I have heard bad stores about it... But it seems that all there other products in the Professional line except for the # 2 you don't have to use a buffer????

I need HELP.....

again dont get the fine cut cleaner, just get megs SMR. or better yet, get 3M's SMR. since youre relatively new to this, id suggest you go in this order: use clay bar from meguiars or mothers, then Megs #1 cleaner, then 3M or Megs SMR, then Megs #2, then finally Megs gold class or #26 (it really doesnt matter which).

haha sorry, i should have read more carefully before i replied. the #1 and #2 i was referring to are the 3 step crystal system (in the burgandy bottles). #1 being the cleaner, #2 being the polish. and yes again dont bother with the fine cut cleaner. hope that cleared it up

Thanks NGLuder for all your replys....
So does this look right now:

1) Wash Car
2) Use the Clay bar
3) Use the # 1 (Cleaner)
4) Use the # 2 (Polish)
5) I could use ether the Gold Meg wax or the #26 of the Pro.

So #1 and 2 I can get from Pepboys and if I want to use the #26 get it from a Supply store.. Cool, what do you recommend does a better job the Gold wax or the #26 Yellow wax????

yea thats pretty much it. you dont have to use the #1 cleaner since the clay bbar should do most of that work for you. but if you have the time go for it. but if ur short on time, its ok to not do that step. something besides those waxes? well basically that last step is where you apply your choice of wax. so if you have another kind of wax in mind i guess you can try that out instead. maybe zymol or 3M imperial hand glaze (heard thats really good).

Thanks guys thats what I am going to do...

For the first time of the year I am going to do it all wash, clay, cleaner, polish, and wax so I can do it right the first time.. But I only have to apply the wax ever month??? or do I have to do the polish as well...

What is the easyest way of using a clay bar?? Do I just rub it on an wipe it off???

And should I do all the steps on the whole car and then wipe it all off, or should I do it all in sections....

Thanks alot guys for your help...

As Ng Luder said a while back, it really depends on your climate and what your car is exposed to as to how often you need to wax. I'd say as a general rule...waxing every month or two is good unless your car sits out in bad weather often. Waxing more often won't hurt anything, but its not really necessary.

I think you should only polish 2-3 times a year (spring and fall?)
There's no real need to polish everytime you wax.

As for the clay bar, I'm not sure because I haven't used one. I think you just rub it on a section at a time then clean the car off if the clay left any residue? Don't quote me on that though

It might be easier to do the cleaner and polish a section at a time, then wipe it off before it dries up too much. It does get harder to wipe off if you apply the product to the entire car and then remove it (this might also lead to a higher chance of light scratch marks if you rub harder to get the dried gunk off). However, most waxes recommend that you apply the wax to the entire car and let it dry to a haze before wiping it off. This lets the wax bond to the surface (don't quote me on that either :P ) and if you wipe the wax off while its still creamy, its not very pretty.

I hope this helps a little!

for teh clay bar, do a section at a time, finishing with a dry clean section. all the instructions will be included in the claybar package, its really simple really. just make sure you dont drop your clay bar on the floor. if so buy a new one.

as for waxing, i agree with joe. also you dont have to reapply polish before every wax. the polishing part would actually remove most of the remaning wax. so if your wax feels like it doesnt shine as well as it used to or if u jsut feel like starting relatively fresh without going to the clay bar and surface prep, then do the polish before the wax. and yes, try not to polish more than 3 times a year or so.
