Swirl remover after clay.

Choosing the products to make your car 'perfect' is like choosing women. You have a ton of choices, and everybody has a different opinion of which one looks best. If you want something cheap, easy to use, and available at your local auto store, try the Meguiar's 3-Step Paint System. Step 1 is a mild cleaner that'll remove some fine scratches/swirls. Step 2 is a polish that 'enhances' the paint color, works especially good on dark cars (I wouldn't bother with it on light colors), and Step 3 is a carnauba wax. You'll also want a claybar, and some quick detailer to use as a lubricant when you claybar the car. Also some car wash soap (NOT dish soap), a nice soft sponge or washmit (microfiber preferred), nice soft drying towels (waffle weave microfiber is preferred), and nice soft towels to wax on/wax off (again, microfiber preferred).

Here's your shopping list:
Meguiar's Step 1
Meguiar's Step 2
Meguiar's Step 3
Car Wash Detergent
Clay Bar
Clay Bar lubricant (usually comes as a package)
1 or 2 wash mit/sponge
1 or 2 drying towels
6+ applicator towels/pads
6+ buffing towels

All of that won't be cheap, figure $50+. Get the waxes and other products at your favorite local store (or oder online if you're not in a hurry), get the microfiber stuff from Target. They sell microfiber stuff at the auto stores also, but they suck. Go to Target for the towels.

You'll also need a cool, cloudy day, or a shaded work area (i.e. garage, carwash, etc.), and several free hours.

If you have never done such a job then maybe it would b e better for this special occassion to just pay to have someone else do it. I tmay be worth it in the end. Or maybe even someone here on PO would be able to give you a hand if they are nearby. There are a lot of guys from TX on the board.
