How do you get the wax off? and other Q's

I bought mothers clay bar kit, which comes with a little bottle of cleaner wax and some kind of detailer to use when claying. I have never used the a clay bar before so any advice would be appreicated. But before that I heard that old wax is horrible on paint, and I should get most of it off before I apply new layer of wax, would clay bar get most of the wax off? I also bought Mother's cleaner wax and Meguair's gold class liquid wax. My question is HOW and What is the safest way to get all the wax off without damaging the paint? I think i also need to buy polish, any suggestions(just read the burgendy bottle meguir step 2 isn't too great)? And when is polish used? After clay bar and before cleaner wax? And speaking of cleaner wax, what does it really do, when it 'cleans' does it take away layer of dirt or does it act more of protectective layer? I know its a lot of question so i Suppose i wil list them.

1. how to take old wax of safely, is dish detergent safe?
2. how to use clay bar? (read a little)
3. what does cleaner wax to clean? (take away dirty or seals the paint)
4. what is a good brand of polish other than step 2 of meguir burgendy bottle?
5. when is polish used?
6. what pads/towels (microfiber or 100% cotton pads, i cant find microfiber pads anymore)to use for each step starting from polish to cleaner wax to meguir gold class wax?
7. what is the best way to remove wax and polish, what kind of towels

thanks for reading i thank you in advance for your valuable advice

1 DAWN is safe for this purpose, once or twice a year.
2 it's on the packaging, very easy
3 Cleaner/Waxes are a BS one-step product. They are more cleaner than wax--and don't do either very well. Use a polish, thaen a wax. Gold Class is a cleaner/wax. These are for the masses, not car care people. The exeptions are synthetics such as Klasse. They work and last very well.
4 Meguairs #9 or 3M Swirl Mark Remover
.5 To reduce swirl marks, and/or to prepare the surface for wax. I recommend Meguiar's #26 or P21S for wax.
6 You can use microfibre pads or cotton terry pads for polish and microfibre or foam for wax
7 I prefer 100 percent USA cotton bath towels for every removal. Thogh others prefer Microfibre. Choice is yours.

Happy detailing.
