-Help- Wax white spots. I think I know what they are.

Sup

Question about the white residue after waxing. I clay bar'd my car, and waxed it about 2 weeks ago. I got a lot of the white residue that I am now used to seeing and I think i figured out what it is. they appear on my hood and trunk.

Anyone who has this problem, how can it be fixed?

Are all these spots tiny chips in the paint, where wax is getting stuck and staying white, thus leaving spots everywhere?

Thanks a bunch

sam

im not exactly sure what ur talking about but....

on mine, i had some pretty bad sap stains on my hood, about 10 or 12, from the previous owner. So i clay bared it and then did the threee step, and yea, it made the sap stains stick out pretty bad, like little white dots all over the hood, it jus because the wax gets in there and dries leaving white residue. if u have a semi deep scratch or somthing that at least gets down in the clear coat, it will leave happy little wax residu for you to see. jus a cloth to a nice point and rub, pretty hard, to get it out, or maybe water, i cant remember.

if its jus on the paint in like sheets, and u can rub it off with a towel, just wax u forgot to polish off.

hope this helps..

with out pics it's hard to say....but if you have surface imperfections and the clay bar didn't get them out then you might want to try a mild to aggressive polish with a buffer

its was little white dots, ill try getting them off with some Quick Detailer/cloth

just for future reference, is there a "good" towel to use when taking off wax, glaze, and prewax? i just used some terry towels from pep boys, i thought a towel was a towel but ive heard some are better than others..

thanks

try not to use cheap shop towels, the best towels to use are microfiber but they can be a little pricey or get some high quality terry cloth towels there are a bunch of car care websites that you can find these on. Oh and just a tip when using microfiber towels do not let them touch the ground

Grab some microfiber from Target. They're cheap, and the hardcore detailing nuts at autopia.org seem to think they're decent products. Especially for the price.

Can you feel the white spots with your fingernail? My guess would be either paint chipping or tree sap like the others have already said. Try using a polish to see if it improves the paint - if not, then it's most likely paint chipping.

Quality microfiber towels are the way to go for anything that gets waxed and polished. I personally use PakShak towels, and they've been absolutely fantastic.
