flaking paint

sorry if repost, didn't see this expressly answered.
today i noticed some of the paint on my front bumper is flaking a little. just wondering what you guys suggest as a fix. now it's not a show car, so it doesn't have to look amazing however i just don't want it to peel anymore. you know? peeling =
my dad suggested take like a knife and scrape off the paint that's still losely attached, maybe sand the area very lightly and start slapping some coats of touch up paint on it.
what do you guys suggest?
thanks ahead of time

Well if the paint is sorta cracked in a spot and peeling off, I would suggest getting a body shop to re-paint it. If you do it yourself, it'll re-occur real soon. And they would normally re-paint the whole bumper not just that spot.

On another note, I took my bro's car out to a body shop in the last couple of days (he has the same problem) and the guy suggested to replace the bumper because even with re-painting it's gonna crack up again. But I think my bro's car has more spots cracking & peeling than yours.

yea i mean it really isn't that bad and i don't really want/have the money to put up to get the bumper resprayed and or get a new bumper, just wondering if there were any suggestions that would just sorta keep it from getting worse. and i realize it will get worse but i just mean maybe not get worse as fast as if i do nothing.

I see where you're coming from... I guess your idea of touching up the spot would be a temporary relief to prevent it from getting worse until you are able to fix it properly. Perhaps you can search on ways to repaint spots so it doesn't look like a weird patch...I haven't done it though.

There really isn't much you can do IMO - just masking up the problem without fixing it completely will never yield the results you want. You could use touch up paint, but it'd be hard to make it flawless. Other than repainting the bumper, just keep washing and waxing regularly and hope for the best.
