No you can't not use any type of clay. It should be a detailers grade clay and you can find them at just about any auto parts store that sells detailing supplies. There are tons of store on the internet you can buy from as well.

Hey stamen,

spin_r_g is right you can't just use any type of clay; Detailing Grade Clay would be a great choice!

Local auto-part stores should carry clay. Remember any true Clay Bar System will also require a lubricant.

Adam's does sell a package that is simple to use and very effective!

Adam's Clay Special!

Let me know if this Helps,

Thanks,

There's different weights and granularity to detailing clay, but your local car parts store should carry what you would normally need. Mother's California Gold Clay and Meguiar's Gold Class Clay Clay are probably the most popular OTC options.

No the wax will just make the water bead up and fall off...

But after it rains I like to go outside with a micro fiber towel and get the water of my car...

Just to keep it from leaving water spots..

A better answer is "It depends". If you live in an industrial area and the rain has high acidic levels, the rain will penetrate through the layer of wax more quickly than "softer" rain, so to speak. However, this doesn't mean that you need to go out and re-apply wax everytime it rains - as long as you wash your car regularly (I like to do mine every 2 weeks if possible) and use wax everytime, you'll be fine. Pure beauty waxes like P21S or S100 only last about a week if your car is exposed to the elements all the time, so I'd be cautious.
