so after many reviews, off of PO,
I got the Clay Magic Clay Bar. (couldnt find the maguire)
anyhow, planning on washing my car this weekend, giving it the whole works, but just wondering if anyone can give me tips on using the clay bar correctly. Im sure i can search...but not really finding the info i want.
Thanks.
Basically it is just a simple task of spraying detailer and sliding the clay bar over the surface. Make sure you don't set the clay bar in a dirty place or else containments will get trapped in the clay bar and when you use it, you'll scratch up your paint. Be sure to wax afterwards...your paint will feel sooooooooooooooooooooooo smooth!
Don't be sad that you couldn't find the Meguiar's - be happy that you found the Clay Magic . Anyway, scroll down on this thread to read my post on how you should use the clay bar.
i saw it used on the weekend .. guy just sprayed a coat of detailer on a panel .. rubbed the claybar on the paint with enough pressure back n forth adn holy crap
so smooooooooooth .. silky .. its like .. i want to hug it and cuddle it and .. well ill stop there but its smoother than my gf ..
Don't forget to clay bar your windows too, especially the windshield. Just lube and rub and you will have the smoothest glass and you probably won't need your wipers in the rain. The water drops just fly off. Give it a try.

Yes and no - it really depends on how long the water spots were on the window. If they were on there long enough to cause pitting, meaning the acidity of the water etched itself into the glass then no. You might also want to try rubbing some distilled white vingear onto the glass with a towel. Rinse with distilled water.

Yup I haven't heard any complaints about that detailing clay. What's nice is that it comes in a air-tight container, but the directions are supposedly ho-hum. Although it's a big bar of clay at 200g (7 oz), sorry you had to pay so much for it. On 3M's website they're selling it for $25.75.
Do you guys have to rub hard back and forth until tar is removed? Simply sliding it across a speck of tar doesn't get rid of it for me...I have to apply pressure and slide it back and forth several times. BTW, I'm using Clay Magic.

Putting pressure is fine, but don't overdo it. Otherwise you could damage the surface of the car by either instilling deep scratches, or causing some serious clearcoat problems. You can use less lubrication as well in order pick up the tough ones.
I've used Mothers and clay magic and i find that clay magic is so sticky that it's pretty annoying, it sticks to my fingers all the time. For easier manuverability i like mother's yellow colored clay better. I've also tried Eagle One's Nano wax and it's very good and easy to apply. It had a deal on the box saying you can get a full rebate, so check your local store, donno if it is gone yet or not.
I used mothers yesterday for the first time. IT SUCKED. It didnt remove the little black dots too well. I had to use my finger nail for some of them. It did work on some dirt and grime, but i wasnt impressed. I was blown away however by Meguiars number 9 car wax. Im at work right now and dont know the name. But the stuff is off the hook. My car was shinning like ive never seen it shine before. It was squeaking too when i touched it after buffing. I was seriously amazed by this car wax.
i'm going to have to invest in a clay bar.....
i have never used it on my car, but it needs something ...just isnt shining up like it used to.
hopefully it just needs this tender loving care...
