buffer question

yeah yeah, I know this topic might as well be FAQ'd. But I need an alternative.

I've got some oxidation (SM red) that I need to tak care of. it's not really going to come out nicely by hand, I need a buffer.

But I don't have $100 for a buffer, I jst graduated and I'm trying to get moving outside the college bubble, so that much for a buffer is something I can't financially justify.

anyone have any cheaper alternatives? I'm looking to spend $50 tops, any ideas?

There is an 8" craftsman random orbit buffer on sale at sears, any good? anyone own anythin other then the PC 7424?

ive never used anything but the PC. however, ive heard of people here purchasing relatively cheaper brands that cost around $50 too and they seemed to have good results. I dont remember which ones they bought.

I say go ahead and try it out on an inconspicuous area of the car. If you like it, keep it. If you dont, return it

I got an 8" craftsmen one and it works fine. If you know how to use a buffer and you get a good foam pad - one that won't mess up your paint then it should be fine. Have you used one before?

110 is a LOT more then 50 if you've got no money. but the paint is starting to show some age and needs the TLC.

I've never used a buffer before. That's why I was trying to stay with a random orbit instead of a straight orbital. I'd like to avoid burning my paint off.

The 8" one I got was random orbit.. I believe I paid $40-50 something like that. It was like 2 years ago.

I bought a cheap one and it didn't do anything, as long as it will spin fast enough to build up a little heat and blend all the imperfections it will do the job.
