best way to get grease off of my valve cover?

ya so i got a used SiR cover the other day and i couldn't even tell it was blue i guess in the shipping the grease/oil exploded all over the place.

ANYWAY, my friend and i sprayed some simple green on it, and it seems like it did a good job except it's still not as blue as it should be. there are still parts that have grease on it too

is there any recomendation of another degreaser i can use besides simple green? something perhaps a bit stronger?

cant say i know anything better, did you use the automotive or home version of degreaser, and did you use the concentrated or dilluted. They recommend dilluting it, but you can use it concentrated

How long did you let it sit before cleaning the degreaser off? I think Meguiars makes a fairly heavy duty degreaser but I'm not sure if many shops carry it. There is always Greased Lightning, but I'm not sure if it is any stronger than Simple Green or not. If all else fails, you may try some of the engine degreaser in a spray can at the auto parts store, but I would do that as a last resort because those tend to leave an oily residue.

You might want to try letting the degreaser sit for a minute or two depending on the instructions on the label. If it sits too long then some discoloration may occur.

i've been successful using concentrated simple green automotive and letting it sit 2 minutes.. respray and let it sit another 2-3 minutes.. (windy days with no funnel get oil everywhere)
