ive used mothers back to black on some of the trim in the exterior... Its okay...MOTHERS®: Special Care

I will be using this in the future though. Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detail Supplies - V.R.T Vinyl, Rubber, & Tire Dressing 16oz I saw them use this product on a range rover on a weekend show once and they had it in an aresol can but i can't find the can on Adams website...

Hey 2kweezy,

A Vinyl treatment that contains UV protection would be the best for this application. I do know that someone does make a product specific for this, I can't think of the name. (Try Google)

Thanks,

The seal that's on the bottom of my rear window touching the trunk is cracking and there are some areas where the paint has completely chipped off leaving this rust colored metal.

I want to completely take off the paint/material, whatever it is, sand it and paint/treat it this summer. Anyone know which paint to use?
Or am I completely mistaken by thinking that I can make it look new and function by simply painting it when it's a lost cause and should just replace it...

You can remove the trim and sand it down which would be the ideal way to go. I did that to mine, and I just used regular Rust-Oleum outdoor paint on mine, and it turned out great. Just make sure you use coats and feather the spray to produce even coats.

Quote:
Known as feathering, overlapping side-to-side and up-and-down passes evenly lay your pigment down on the sheetmetal. Feathering ensures application evenness. Furthermore, using comfortable passes and avoiding excessively long swipes and transitions will prevent paint thickness from becoming concentrated in the middle of the swipe.
