Hey all, I use the meguiar's 3 step pretty often but I am not really satisfied with the Polish (step 2) lately. It seems to not give good results and it is very hard to get off. What is a good alternative to the step 2 polish? Keep in mind I will be doing this by hand, so the polish must be workable by hand.
I have always been happy with the results of the 3 step, but I need a change. I am also thinking about switching to that new Meguiars wax, NXT or whatever it is.

Use #9 to reduce swirls. If no swirls, use #7 followed by #26 paste.
Sounds about right - the pro line is a lot better than the burgundy bottles, but it'll take longer to polish the car by hand. Prepare to have massive arms and shoulders by the time you're done .

I already do
Im just worried that I wont be able to get it all off, that some polish will be left on no matter what, cause the step 2 polish did not come off well at all

i use swirl remover 2.0, i cant remember what number it is but its a beige bottle, its got more a higher cutting level than the step 2...oh and btw...that 3 step isnt anywhere near maguirs full potential. I do mother claybar, cleaner wax, swirl remover 2.0, then nxt wax...that nxt stuff is insane

I do the Meguiars clay bar, then the 3 step. I know I can have better results with other products. That is why I am gonna change the polish and try that NXT stuff I hear so much about. Eventually I will get a porter cable...hopefully.

You just have to keep buffing and buffing until your arms fall off...literally. It's hard laborious work, but it will pay off in the end.
The Meguiars SXT spray on wax is awesome. I recommend it for the fine detail before showing off your car. After spraying the substance, let it dry a bit then wait till it hazes just a tad. Its a simple spray and wipe job.
personally i think the polish step 2 works awesome. First I use the clay bar, right after the polish, and finally I use Zymol wax to finish off the car. Its feels exactly like glass when I'm done. Also what I do is let the polish and wax sit for around a couple of hours too. Not sure if that makes a difference but I would like to think so.

It doesn't really...following the directions on the bottle feels just the same. The only reason against letting the polish and/or wax cure for so long would be that contaminants in the air can land on it and when you wipe the car you'll be dragging that stuff along on the paint.
