5 gen headlights

Anyone know how to clean up the 5g headlights? Mine are cloudy/dull looking. This really hurts the overall appearance. I tried plastic x from meguiar which does alright but still not the look I'm looking for. thanks

If you buff your car with a buffer just run it over your headlights as you would the paint. That's how I always did mine and they were always crystal clear.

You can try this
http://store.yahoo.com/classic-motor...slenclean.html
or you can try this
Wet sanded, polished my headlights... (56K beware, huge pics)

I believe the bad part is that you lose the UV coating on the headlights and the sun will cause them to discolor. Another alternative is get those 3M plastic film thing that protects your headlight from rock chips after wetsanding, although I have no experience with this.

I might try using my buffer and see what happens - I guess I could use the lower speeds

Looks interesting. I'll have to try this out. Can't go wrong with it only being $4

What grit of sand paper do you use to wet sand the head lights? And do you just use water with it, or another fluid for the lubrication?

Try using 1500 first, and then 2000 grit. You always want to have a steady flow of water while you're wetsanding.

I had scratches on my headlights some how and I started off with 600 grit and went to 1000 and finally 2000....i dont use any kind of special lub..just windex (sp?)...after that use Meguirers Scratch X. Apply then wipe off...repeat until you are happy with the shine...I had to apply and wipe off about 5 times to get that brand new look I might have before and after pics let me look.

noooo dont do that..... i used bluemagic metal polish... It worked well on mine and mine were yellow and hazy it made them look much better. U can get blue magic at pepboys or wutever and it is like 8 bux for a tub. I used it in the summer and so far my lights are fine no uv coating issues or anything all it did was clean up the lights and take out the fine imperfections to some degree.

did you wetsand them in a circular motion? dont apply too much pressure and be gentle!use Meguirers ScratchX.....that might help. repeat about 7 times.

Try using 3000 grit sandpaper, and make sure to soak it in water overnight. As you wetsand your headlights, use even pressure and having a constant stream of water will make things easier for you.
