Valve Cover Gasket Problem, please hlp

Hey guys, I just did a Valve Lash Adjustment and replaced my plugs, (the old ones electrodes were so worn down, they might have been the originals! ) Anyway, so I also was replacing the valve cover gasket when I did all this. My problem is the rubber gasket won't stay in its groove well enough for me to get the cover back on. In other words, when I flip the thing back over, gravity starts pulling it out. Now, the directions say that the gasket is supposed to be applied dry, but is there something I can use to keep it in place while I put the cover back on? What would be the best? Also, do you think I would have had better luck with a genuine Honda gasket? This kit was from Autozone and it is made by Felpro. Thanks guys!

I replaced the v.c gasket and s.p. seals on my 89 Si with Genuine Honda parts without any problems. The Honda v.c. gaskets are always crinkled up in plastic bags but they still work great. You could try putting a few spots of Hondabond or Permatex No. 2 to help hold it in place. Honda Techs usually use Hondabond on oil pan gaskets. Fel Pro wouldn't supply you with an inferior gasket.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up using some Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant. It worked pretty well... I was able to finish my job that should have been done Sunday.
