Thoughts on wheel upgrade for 89 Si...

Hi guys!

I'm new to the forum. I've owned multiple preludes over the years and just got a great deal on an 89 Si, so I'm back in the prelude community. I'm going to upgrade the wheels and I actually ended up with two great sets - one set 16's and one set 17's. I wasn't really looking to go that big, but I couldn't pass up the deal... Anyway, my question is how well do the 3rd gens respond to those size wheels with respect to handling and performance? I have the original 14's and love the way the car handles and rides, although I do think a slightly lower profile tire could help. I value handling/performance 1st, then appearance....

Any thoughts, comments, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Erik

Here's my 2 cents...I would stick with 15 or 16 inch if you are more concerned with performance and ride comfort. Bigger wheels are heavier, and are also more prone to damage from pot holes and such. Plus, the tires will be more expensive with the bigger wheels. I'm running 15 inch Konig Monsoons, and I love the handling I get with them. And there is still enough sidewall to give a little ride comfort. I've read that 16's are ideal for track purposes, but I only use mine on the street.
