Temprature guage dips at 6K

Weird thing, I noticed this yesterday, when I take my car past 6000 rpm the temperature gauge drops down past the "C" and pins it self at cold until I shift. Other then that it works fine, indicates temperature accurately and sits where it seems it should be for normal driving. What's the deal?

youve got faulty wires somewhere.

check all things that have to do with the temp guage.......... thermosat, and wires to and from. also check ground wires..... buddy of mine had a crappy ground wire and it caused his car to start to over heat and his temp guage to be screwy. that was a 4th gen though.

i suggest changing the thermostat wether or not its faulty if it hasnt been changed in a long time, or you dont know when it was changed.......every 3rd gen ive owned, and pretty much driven had problems with that that could have been solved by changing this 5 dollar part.

When I got my 3G, I got a killer deal on it because there was this unexplainable overheating problem that the dealer couldn't fix. It was the coolant temp sending unit...the car was running normally, but the gauge would do funny stuff. I remember it being pretty cheap too...something else to check.

Done...check the "red thread."

I'll find the others soon. I've gone through 3 computers since I've had the car....so pics are hard to find.
