removing VIN on dash?

I need help removing the VIN on the dash. I need to move it over to another dash that I bought from the junkyard. I've tried removing one of them in the junkyard and I ended up breaking it. Is there a special technique or tool I will need to get this baby out and over onto the new one?

I finished reupholstering the new dash in a nice ivory white and its already in my car, but I don't know if I'll get in trouble if I get pulled over and the police can't find the VIN.

I don't know about moving the VIN but it is definitely illegal to not have it.

i think it's riveted down.. doesn't really matter... there's like 3 or 4 places on the car with the VIN on it

It should be pretty easy. Just take out the dask and look under where the vin is attached and just cut of the things that holds it down.

I have the dash taken out... but for those of you who have already done this, may notice that it looks like its 2 seprate panels held together by not only screws, but it looks like its glued together too!

You can reach the end of one rivet but the other one is near impossible... I have tried drilling it out, but I'm too afraid I might accidently wreck it. I still plan on putting it on my car
