Prelude wheels on civic

I am considering putting my stock 91 prelude rims on my 96 civic hatch to replace those 13" steelies. That way, I can get nicer wheels for my lude instead of my civic. I know they are both 4 bolt, but not exact fit. Can I make it work? Bad idea or suggestions?

They will fit. They are both 4 X 100. Unless your wheels are from 1991 Prelude Si, which is 4 X 114.3. In that case they wont fit.

The link I took the info from messed me up, thats why I had to edit my post. Honda _ Vehicle Bolt Pattern Reference - that site are a bunch of clowns.

Thanks Colfax on clearing things up.

HUH??? All 3rd gen preludes and 96 civics both have 4 x 100 bolt patterns. They will fit fine.

I looked again and 1991 Prelude Si is 4 X 114.3, the rest are 4 x 100.

So if the OP has a 91 Prelude Si rims, then they wont fit a 1996 Civic.

Hope this clears everything up.

Unfortunately that website is wrong. Like I said before...all 3rd gens are 4 x 100. In fact, I used 14" Civic rims for my snow tires when I had my 91 Prelude.

besides the 91 Prelude Si, which is 4 x 114.3. This is what many sources say when you do a Google search.

its like 50/50.. some of those sites say 4 X 100 and some say 4 X 114.3.

I'm thinking that since in Japan the 4th gen was oficially released in 1991, maybe that is why all those sites are giving misinformation and confusing it with the last year of the 3rd gens in the USA?

I just decided to swap prelude wheels later. It is a 91 si, so I just got some wheels for the civic. I hated those 13" steelies!

No, absolutely wrong. I owned a 91 Prelude Si. I used Civic rims for my snow tires, and also used the 91 sawblades on my 89. So I have first hand knowledge of what the bolt pattern is.

I thought of that, but it should also show the 96 Prelude as having 5 x 114.3 (first year of the 5th gen in Japan). The website you linked shows the 96 with 4 x 114.3, like all 4th gens.

Besides, I've been a member on the other Prelude website since 2006. The only bolt pattern that anyone with a 3rd gen has ever talked about them having is 4 x 100.

well, I guess those sources and websites are complete BS then.

Yeah it doesn't make sense for Honda to change lug pattern just for one trim style.

Anyways, thanks for clearing that up Colfax.

Did you read my posts? I just said that I had a 91 Si and It was 4 x 100. Why did you post that if you aren't sure? It just confuses people when there is conflicting info.

Lmao...sure. We can take a poll on this. But whatever members are "pretty sure" about still won't change the fact that all 3rd gens have the same bolt pattern.

You're stubborn arent you?

What is there for you to look into? It's already been settled. Are you gonna believe something you think remember reading on the internet, or someone who actually has first hand knowledge about it? You have to either think I'm lying about it, or you don't think I know enough to know what I had on my own car to believe me. It doesn't matter what you have seen or read, it was misinformation. That's common on the internet. And by saying what you're saying, you're actually adding to that misinformation.
