Hi. I am the proud owner of a 1990 Si 4WS 5 spd. Pretty cool little car if I do say so. I dont know too much about them other than what Wikipedia has taught me. I needed to pick up a DD so I could retire my other baby "Bertha" from "frontline" status to garage queen. I found this forum because I guess whoever is in charge of this one is in charge of the other one Ive been a part of for over 3 years now. Im pretty excited about picking this thing up and ready to get to know yinz guys and pick up some stuff about my new 'Lude.
Welcome. I've always wanted a 3rd gen honestly. It had to be a 91 white with blue interior 5spd 4ws though and I could never find a good one. Instead I have had a4th gen and currently own a 5th.
I will say this site is a bit slow in the 3rd gen section but new people have been joining and posting in this section though.
Post some pics when you can.

Thanks! Its rough. It needs alot of little things including a paint job, but it runs...sorta kinda, lol. Are the generations very different from eachother, or do they share traits? I know the LH platform from Chrysler shared quite a few things between first gens and second gens. I have an Intrepid that I've sunk more money than I want to know in modding it. Lol
All the generations of Preludes are different in terms of swapping interior or exterior parts, but when it comes to swapping motors, 4th and 5th gen are all direct bolt-ons.
***edit....Some parts like 5th gen glass sunroof can be fitted into a 4th gen, but it will require slight modifications.

Reason: adding info
Cool. That's good to know. I've been cruising around looking at some stuff in here and got a general idea of some interchangeability items. So it looks like 90 and 91 is what im locked into pretty much. Lol
Many do the 88-89 front conversion to the 90-91. Not sure why. I prefer the 90-91 front personally.
The 90-91 got a really nice steering wheel compared to the 88-89 and also got a better looking rear as well. But as I stated, many do a front end conversion to the older style.

yes and 88 and 89 Preludes have many interchangeable parts with 90 and 91. This is all 3rd gen. What you have is called a face-lift model that has only some varying factors. I am no 3rd gen expert but I hope someone will chime in and explain to you more in detail.
BTW, there is a 3rd gen only site out there. I can't find it at the moment but they do show and tell you howto do many mods for 3rd gens only.

There are way more parts that will swap than that wont between 88/89 and 90/91 ludes. basically, all the sheet metal except the trunk lid will swap,
Engines and transmissions will swap, as long as you are going fuel injected to fuel injected. You can swap a carb'd lude to fuel injection, but it's a lot of work.
Most of the interior will swap, as I have swapped my 89 to have 91 Si interior. The only thing I didn't swap over was the dash and gauge cluster. That is not a direct swap.
Of course the front and rear bumpers are different, as well as the tail lights. Even those are swappable, but there is some work involved swapping 90/91 tails onto an 88/89
If you have anything specific you want to swap, post up a question and I'll be happy to tell you if it's easy or not worth doing.
The link that was provided above is an excellent resource. And welcome to your new addiction!!!

Thanks for all the modding tips! Im torn between an 89 bumper and mine. I like how aggressive the 89 looks, but it makes it look like a mini Accord. Unfortunately, I don't think that this car will see too many mods, it being a DD and all. First things on my list are several "ricey" items that need gone. It needs new speakers and the headunit looks like it came straight out of 1997. I've already been bitten by the mod bug once with my Intrepid, so I should know the symptoms fairly well, lol. Ill try to post some pics up whenever I can.
Mini Accord? I don't see it, lol. If you eventually do decide to swap front bumpers, just be aware that the non-removable bumper trim is different on the 88/89. It's not real noticeable, but there is a difference. My ideal combination would be 88/89 front and 90/91 rear.
Definitely get some pics up. I never get tired of looking at 3rd gens.
What year is your Intrepid? I had a 94 Eagle Vison TSi, which as you probably know, is an Intrepid in discuise. That was a fun car.
