i jus bought a 89lude previuos owner said the head was shaved and rebuilt but wen i stop at a light for more that 10minutes she starts to over heat and im thinking their is air pockets in the system or the thermostate is stuck closed any ideas

10 minute red lights? Damn, I'd fall asleep waiting.

Try bleeding your cooling system. Here is the procedure from the manual...

A few things to check for this.

1. Be sure the fans are coming on before the gauge exceeds the half way point.

2. Be sure both upper and lower radiator hoses are getting hot when the vehicle is fully warmed up.

3. Be sure there are no leaks in the system.

If all of these check out try to purge the air from the cooling system and see if the problem persists.
