Nitrous in STOCK HIGH MILEAGE 3rd Gen?

Thinking of buying a 3rd gen as a DD and have always wanted a Nitrous system for fun. Proabably a Zex since they seem to market themselves as the safest. Would I be insane to do, say a 50 shot, in a 150K+ 'lude?

Luke.

YES, nitrous on a 150k 14 year old car with the original everything in it, is a bad idea IMO. You'll stress an already tired engine and tranny and with a 50 shot of Zex get a whopping 25-30 to the wheels for your efforts. I had Zex on my 5th gen. for over a year so I'm not against it, it's great on newer engines. There's jsut so much that can go wrong or could be going bad on an older engine that Nitrous will just stress to the point of breaking.

It depends on what sort of condition it's in. I'd toss a system on mine in a heartbeat, and it's pushing 200K. But then, mines in pretty good condition. I still auto-x it regualarly and drive it hard. So if the motor seems to be in pretty decent condition (no knocks or anything coming from the bottom end.) then go for it. It's not like those motors are being stressed to the limit as they are anyways.

Oh yeah, make sure you tune it well though. I would say that an old motor would let go faster than a new one as the result of poor tuning.
