New 3rd gen owner

Hi i recently got a 1988 Honda prelude S,it is the b20a4 non US model. I'm having a problem with after I run it for a wile and engines at the normal stable heat,After I start it up and drive again it will stall out when i go to stop,or put it in reverse feels like it is "Chugging" along after it till i let the engine get cold again. Also I was wondering the the Hp rating was on the Non US version,And if there was any big differences.

I do remember the guy I bought it from said it need brand new crab. But figured out the biggest issue was the check valves on the carburetor.I never worked with a Carburetor before. Is there and Easy way to take the Check valves off to clean them or do i have to pull the whole carburetor.Car runs and gets great mileage so I'm thinking the Carb isn't trashed, just a bit dirty.

Ty everyone Sorry if any of this is a repost.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The S model you have is indeed carb'd, but it doesn't have a single carb. It actually has two side draft carbs, like motorcycles use. They are very difficult to work on unfortunately, and not many people know anything about them. It sounds like maybe your choke is staying on after the engine warms up. Don't try adjusting anything on them unless you have a very good idea of what you are doing. They are very finicky and you can quickly make them non-operational. As far as the HP rating goes, I believe the b20a3 is rated at 104 HP.

There is a member on another forum who has learned all about the carbs on 3rd gens, and he might be able to help you. Here is a link to a thread he made for some of the adjustments you can do. Hopefully it will help you...
