LED Lights

yea i just switched my back signal light to an led light bulb, so that the rear turn signal is red instead of orange. Im doing this instead of having to cut the panel open and take out the orange reflector. The problem with it is that it blinks way too fast now and im afriad it will burn out my front signal bulbs. That and i geuss im either not used to the fast blinking and it annoy's me because of the clicking it makes in my instrument panel or it just doesn't seem appealing to my taste. Well anyways is there a way i can slow down the blinking?

the way hondas blinkers work: the circuit closes and the bulb comes on, it gets hot/warm for a split second and turns off. to make it blink faster u must send more current.

the led bulbs: an leds runs off current. they are pulling a lot of current to your blinkers causing them to turn off quicker. u might be able to help it with a small circuit, but it would be tricky, getting the bulbs to stay as bright with less current

edit: early in the morning can't type or think right...had to change some grammer

would'nt putting an LED bulb in the back still come out orange? The light is still going through the orange reflector isn't it? If it's red, tell me I want to do this that would be tight. Thanx

yea i thought it would still come out to be orange but suprisingly enough it is red. the only thing is that it does not blink naturally any more. also during the day the light does not fill up the whole pannel. you see a red dot that is twice the circumfrance of the bulb. which i can live with, but at night..... damn it looks good. so to answer your question....no the color is not orange it is red.

Um......nope

only the 90-91's are clear, and they really aren't. pull your bulb out and you realize that they are amber inside, looks are decieving......

Re: LED Lights : SOLUTION!

Ok, it should be a fairly simple fix. If Kyle H is right and that it's because there's more current to the relay that's causing it to blink faster, then that's probably because the LED has less resistance than a normal bulb. It makes sense, LEDs don't need much to turn them on. Since V=IR (voltage = current * resistance) and I=V/R, the less resistance in the circuit, the more current and the faster your blinkers will go. So the fancy circuit that you need should only be a resistor in line. Disconnecting a wire, connecting it to the resistor and then connecting the other end to where you disconnected the wire from. Now, the size of the resistor to use, I don't know off hand. If you want it to work at the same speed as before, you need to know what the resistance of the other light was and the resistance of the LED. The difference between the two will be what you need.
