I think my temp gauge or sensor went bad?

Bought this 90 prelude si 2.0 and have flushed out the coolant system twice with prestone super radiator cleaner, flushed with clean water, replaced the thermostat(which had been sticking open until the system was cleaned), replaced the coolant, and now after a few days of normal operation the temp reading went and maxed out. Talk about a quick pull over and checkout, Whew. Fortunately it wasn't melting, on fire, or even overly hot. What would the general opinion be here as to what went wrong, the gauge or the sensor? I'm leaning towards the sensor myself, but haven't checked it out yet, as it is still cooling off. All help appreciated. EZ

Well the sensor change made a dif, but the gauge may be the real problem. Does anyone know if the new reformulated and car manufacturer approved extended life antifreeze would have any bazar effect on the 90 lude heat sensor? Truly I think it's the gauge though. EZ
