High Rev Prob

I have an auto 89 Lude and when i go from park to drive on the transmission the clutch doesnt seem to get on to the gear properly and i need to rev it up to around 6000rpm before it even begins to move the car. Once the car is moving the 2nd and 3rd gear are fine. Anyone else have this problem?
