HIGH idle issue. Going nuckin Futz! HELP!!!

I know many owners have idle issues. I have tried everything!
Took apart the idle control valve and cleaned it "wasn't carboned up"
Replaced the throttle body sensor
Checked all vacuum hoses

It started out going up and down than I unplugged the icv and it stopped the up and down crap but now it threw the check engine light and it just idles about 2300 always
Replaced the Throttle body sensor....did completely nothing????
Any ideas?

High Idle?

I'm having the same problem. I've got a 2.1 and I've done everything pretty much the same. I've heard that a bad EGR valve acts like a monster vacuum leak and can cause a car to idle high so i'm planning on replacing it this weekend. This is pretty much the last thing i can think of. I'll let you know how it turns out and if you find out anything feel free to pass on information.

okedoke. The strange thing is after a 1/2 hr or so of driving the idle comes down to almost normal???
Like somethings getting hot enough to open up and work.
It use to idle up and down always than I replaced the throttle sensor.
I guess I would rather have it idle high than up and down.....
Keep in touch "Misery loves company" he he

for all lude owners with idle problems.... now i have no clue why this works but it just does. i have a peice of a mountain dew can blocking off the fast idle valve on back of intake. now idles at 1500 when cold 750 when warm not 3k anymore. took another peice of can and slid it in between aicv or eacv up under throttle cable to block it off and left it plugged up and that solved the rpm surge from 1k to 2k periodicly. it just doesnt rev up when first crunk up. first 10 secs it idles like at 250 then goes to 750. if its real cold it will cut off but if crunk up it will run.
