H22a/3g info

Hey all h22/3g owners,
Since deciding to do this swap myself, I've found the most frustrating part of the whole thing to be the lack of good info out there. So many people post topics regarding this swap and nobody answers (not so much in this forum, but others). I think everybody who's down with it should somehow get together some info on their own swap or something, just to provide some sort of resource for aspiring h22/3geners. I mean, PR offers a whole swap kit for this and they can't even really tell you how anything works! I'm trying to document everything I've done so far and I'm gonna start up something as soon as I can, but I've really only just started the swap. Anyway, we were all at that stage at somepoint, wishin we could find a little more info.
Just a thought.

i have a 88 with a h22a, lsd accord tranny, this swap is great because the car performs well worth its money, cause no matter
how mutch spent, 90% of the population will not out perform this street car and the lsd makes a huge difference, and the tourqe is
unbiliveable it can spin i fith gear going on to the feeway ,any ways its not that simple, because you need to save your money
for this project cause spending a lot now is better than spending a lot later i would like to make a web page on it the install
i will try to post pics soon from my girls computer any way got any ???? post i will try to anser them.

Spin in 5th gear?? Yeah right.....

Let me ask you a few things redloudlude. Did you have any clearance problems with the install? Did you do it yourself? If not, who installed it for you. Where did you get the motor from? How does the Accord tranny line up? Good? How much in total, and what's your FULL setup.

Lastly, do you REALLY HAVE A H22 3G??

yeah, how can you tell if a tranny is LSD equipped other than trying to look through the diff? And what about mounting? I've heard from a very reliable source that the PR mount kit positions the h22 1/2" closer to the driverside than they say it does. Which makes their rear mount relocation bracket useless. Did you have the same problem?

Hmmm, I've never heard about that mounting problem, and honestly, it sort of confused me. Are you saying that the engine can't be mounted to the b20 mounts, because of the size of the motor, it'd have to be positioned 1/2 in. over? If so, you're not supposed to use b20 mounts, but I'm sure you know that.

when i say spin in 5th i dont mean stand still i mean going on to the freeway and it spins two or more seconds and second
i originaly used all 94 vtec mounts wich dont work that well
thats why im going to re mount it with place mounts ,cause
my hood suports above the engine had to be cut and it still hits
witch pisses me of cause my valve cover gets abuse.and third
why would i lie about having it ill try to post pics soon.

So, you're saying you can be at highway speeds in 5th gear, mash the gas, and you get 2 seconds of tirespin? What, you got a turbo on there too?

Why didn't the 94 mounts work? Can you tell me the difference PR mounts will make?

ok, now everybody has me confused. What's this talk about being able to use stock h22 mounts alone? And you can't use b20 mounts either (well, it's a mix and match of b20, h22, and PR mounts from what I know).
What I was talking about was the PR mounts position the engine 1/2" further to the driverside than PR thinks it does. So when your crank pulley hits your inner fender, and you ask them what's up, they'll probably suggest that your car was wrecked (I got all of this info from Ima2nr. this is exactly what happened to him and he gave me a heads up).
And red, how did you use all h22 mounts?

i never heard of that , but basicly they were welded in and the crank pully, ac pully is under the fender and is wrongly pos.
so im saving for PR mounts i dont realy care for ac i live i the bay
sf.but i have powerstering were the ac used to be cause the ps pump would of hit the hood.im hoping the pr mounts will help the engine not hit the hood ,cuz custom 94 vtec mounts make it hit the hood tranny mount is an accord mount 93 ex.

Do you have a digital camera or a scanner? If not, you could mail them to me, and I could post 'em up for you.

Where does it say that? Try getting them hosted at imagestation.com. That's a really reliable site.

You can't post pics to the board, you have to host them somwhere else and then link to them on the board.

Search for "H22 Swap" in the 3g forum, you'll find a thread I posted in regarding the mounts. The PR have been said to be crap since they will need to be modified to work right. At least one person used them as a starting point and made their own mounts.

Don't worry so much about the AC as the power steering. The extra weight will really become noticeable there. You will be in for a lot of custom work such as wiring and hoses and other miscellany, this is a big project to undertake.

hey liqiud 51, I have the H22 in my 89 lude, and will be glad to help in any way I can... post your specific question and I'll answer it if I can. PR developed the kit a long time ago, and the new worker-bee's just don't know anything about it. goto Teaminterlude.com to find a few pics of my 89 lude turbo'd to 575hp.
also, feel free to call me at my import performance shop in athens ga. I'll give you as much time as I can answering anyones questions... 706-543-7101 10am - 7 pm EST ask for kevin p.

PS... I want to put together a complete tech article on my swap, but I lack the computer know-how to do it. somebody please contact me, and lets make it happen! I have approx 500+ pics of the swap from dirty old JDM engine to fully polished and chrome plated 600 hp beast! lets make history together; any takers?
