Gas and Temperature Needle Problem on Cluster

Recently my check engine light stopped working along with my RPM gauge. The problem ended up being a short in the wire the operated those parts of the instrument panel. As a result I took apart the dash and got all the way to the fire wall to change the burnt wire.

After finding and fixing that issue, then putting it all back together, now when I turn the car on, the check engine light and many other things work correctly, but now my gas needle along with my temperature needle always sit at the top, and they won't go back down.

Anyone know what the problem might be?
On a side note, the needle did go slightly down when I pulled up the emergency brake up.
Also tomorrow (Wednesday the 14th) I'm also going to change the thermostat to see if that helps.

Any assistance is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you take the gauge cluster apart at all when you had it out? If so, you may have damaged something. The temp and fuel gauges are pretty sensitive and can be easily damaged.

If you didn't take the cluster apart, then you may have a ground issue. Check all of your grounds. Here is a link from the online service manual showing the ground locations...

I took the entire cluster out, but I didn't actually take off any parts from it, I only took it off so that I could take out the entire dash and get to the fire wall.

I will indeed check grounds though. I'll have to see what happens.

take the cluster out again, turn it upside down or some other angle, get those needles to balance down. Sometimes when you turn the cluster a certain way the needles get thrown off. You installed it when this happened. Install the cluster when you balance down the needles.
