Fluctuating idle now steady at 1700rpm
1991 Prelude 2.0 Si had the standard fluctuating idle problem so I followed all of the suggestions on this site. Cleaned the IACV, tested the Fast Idle thermo valve, checked for vacuum leaks, etc. There was no check engine light but was throwing a code 14 (IACV), and code 7 (throttle angle).
I changed the TPS sensor with an aftermarket one. No more surge now but the car is idling at 1700rpm with a CEL code 7 (throttle angle). The TPS is getting a constant 4.9V so it thinks it should be WOT all the time. I checked the voltage coming from the computer under the passengers dash and it is sending a constant 4.9V to the TPS. My question is, where does the computer get it's information on what voltage to send to the TPS? Does the IACV send a signal to the computer? I'm thinking the IACV is bad but I want to make sure before I spend money swapping parts. Thanks.
