Failing Vacuum Advance Distributor??

I got a 88 Honda Prelude S 2.0 SOHC 2bbl carburetor. I was looking around and found out Vacuum Advance Distributor,or Vacuum Advance Diaphragm might cause some of the issues I have. The car has hard time starting in the rain at first or when high humidity out side. I also have some problems with the brakes they work but wont build pressure, I replaced everything except the lines and there fine, bleed the system several times no luck,my brakes are still not pressurizing right. When the engine heats up the car will tend to start stalling out. I know there was a issue with the fuel pump vapor locking but It doesn't seem to be just that. I have replace both fuel filters as well. If anyone could help me with some of these issues and let me know a little more about the "Vacuum Advance Distributor,or Vacuum Advance Diaphragm" I would greatly appreciate it.

First of all, welcome to the forum. The 3rd gen section here doesn't get much traffic, especially for the carbie ludes.

You don't have a 2 barrel carb, you actually have two side draft carbs (basically motorcycle carbs). There are a lot of things that can go wrong with these, and it's not advised for you to do anything with them until you do a LOT of research on them.

You can try a couple of simple things first. Buy a bottle of HEET fuel line drier. Some of your problem could be moisture in your fuel system, and this will help eliminate that as a problem. The other thing I would try is to do a Seafoam treatment on the car. If you're not familiar with it, just google "seafoam treatment".

When was the last time you did a tune-up on this car? Fresh plugs, cap, and rotor can do wonders if it's been a long time.

But by far, the best advice I can give to you would be to register on the prelude power forum Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums. There is a much more active 3rd gen section there. Then seek the advice of a user named TripleLude. He has had a lot of experience working with the carb'd 3rd gens.

Brakes are really not complicated. You said you replaced everything but the lines. So I am assuming you replaced the master cylinder, all four calipers, and all pads. I know you said you bled them, but the only things that could be causing your problem would be a weak brake line or there is still some air in there. If you're sure you bled them properly, then replace the lines. You can get steel braided brake lines from ebay for less than what stock lines would cost from Honda.

Ty for the welcome and the advice. I did do the tune up,only thing left is the distributor cap. The main thing cold mornings it starts but wont pass 3000rpms even if its warmed up a bit. The last car I had I changed out the Advance Vacuum Distributor and it fixed it. tends to run really sluggish and kinda "chug" along for a the 35 minute ride to work once I get into drive again its usually ok depending on how cold it is out. I am bleed the brakes one more time to see if that helps. Thanks for the heads up about the brake lines also damn worth every penny to get the braided over the regular ones and cheaper. The only part of this car I have a fear of taking off to fix is the carburetor mainly cause I have never seen so many vacuum lines on a car in my whole life. again any advice is appreciated and ty.
