Hi I just bought a 90 SI 2.0 DOHC AT, I'm getting maybe several issues from it.


The check engine light and the s3 light come on and off intermittently, the s3 light will actually blink when it comes on though, even when I'm just in D or park. Sometimes neither of them will come on at all. Also, I've never had one or the other come on, its only both or neither.

The main problem with it right now is that sometimes it will start entirely whenever it wants to, sometimes with no problems at all. I don't know what could cause this symptom. I do live in a hot place, its usually on average about 90 degrees, and I have noticed it starts more often during the later half the day with no problems. But it will still start with no problems even when its hot outside.

I also noticed in the fuse box under the dash there is a wire running to the fuse that is for the Fuel Pump and Alternator, its actually hooked into the slot with the fuse. I'm thinking its ghetto rigged a bit, but I have no clue what it is for. So far the only thing I've replaced on it was a cracked front motor mount. I haven't done any other work on it as I don't want to start spending money till I can narrow down the cause. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Even suggestions on what to check on the car to start eliminating causes. I have a shop that I'm able to lift the car up on so throw anything at me.
