While I was driving home tonight, I switched on my high beams when my dash lights went off. Now, high or low beams, no dash lights. However, when I turn the headlights down to parking lights, they come on again. Headlights = no dash...parking lights = dash lights.
I noticed the last few times I've driven at dark that occasionally the clock light flickers between the "subdued headlights on" and the "bright headlights off" mode.
Suggestions as to the cause, anyone?

Check all your grounds and make sure it is not corroded or loose. I had the same problem with that on my 1987 and I was short of one grounding cable when I changed the engine.

I had exact same problem. It diagnosed it to a headlight switch. I took it off (took apart steering column) and rebuild the switch. Used a screwdriver to scrape off corosion and then used some dielectric grease, reassembled and still works today (3 or so months)
